A piezoelectric element according to the present disclosure is a piezoelectric element including multiple piezoelectric bodies, having piezoelectricity, and multiple electrodes stacked alternately. At least one of the piezoelectric bodies has a slit in its lateral surface. The outer periphery of a cross section of the portion of the piezoelectric element having the slit obtained by cutting in the direction perpendicular to the stacking direction has multiple sides and multiple stress relaxation portions each connecting an adjacent pair of the sides. The stress relaxation portions are formed such that when each point at which extensions of an adjacent pair of the sides intersect is defined as an imaginary vertex, the slit is located closer to the center of the piezoelectric body than the imaginary vertices.
