Data transmission method and apparatus

An apparatus, comprising:

• one or more processors to execute instructions causing the apparatus to:
• send a first buffer status report (BSR) to a network device, wherein the first BSR indicates that a volume of to-be-transmitted data of a terminal device is 0;
• receive an uplink grant from the network device, wherein the uplink grant indicates a first resource and a second resource;
• send a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) to the network device on the second resource;
• and
• shut down a symbol or reduce a power on the first resource.

A method, comprising:

• receiving a second buffer status report (BSR) from a terminal device, wherein the second BSR indicates that a volume of to-be-transmitted data of the terminal device is 0;
• sending scheduling information based on the second BSR, wherein the scheduling information comprises indication information, and the indication information indicates sending of a sounding reference signal (SRS) on a third resource;
• and
• monitoring the SRS on the third resource and determining whether the scheduling information is received.
