Providing Scanning Assistance at a Point-of-Sale

A system for providing assistance during a use of a data capture device, the system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
• capture, by the data capture device, one or more images comprising image data of an object within a field of view of the data capture device, wherein:
• the object is associated with an indicia that is captured in the image data, and
• analysis of the one or more images results in a non-decode of the indicia;
• provide at least a portion of the image data to a first model configured to determine a cause of the non-decode;
• based upon the cause of the non-decode, obtain scanning instructions indicating a scanning action to be performed, wherein the scanning action is associated with resolving the cause of the non-decode of the indicia;
• and
• output, via an output device, the scanning instructions.
