An example for performing cooperative navigation with autonomous vehicles includes an autonomous vehicle; a communication system; and a vehicle control system operably coupled to the autonomous vehicle, the vehicle control system including a processor and a memory, the memory having computer-executable instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: receive traffic information from the communication system, where the traffic information includes information from a plurality of roadside communication devices and information from a second vehicle; receive a plurality of vehicle parameters associated with the autonomous vehicle; and determine, based on the traffic information and the vehicle parameters, a cooperative navigation solution.
