Generating synthetic data

A computer-readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processing system, perform a method of generating synthetic data, comprising:

• receiving data having missing elements;
• evaluating the data for patterns with respect to the missing elements;
• labeling the data according to the patterns;
• generating labeled synthetic data using the labeled data;
• and
• inserting blanks into the labeled synthetic data according to associated labels of the labeled data to generate synthetic data with corresponding missing elements.

A system comprising:

• a processing system;
• a storage system;
• and
• instructions stored on the storage system that, when executed by the processing system, direct the processing system to:
• receive data having missing elements;
• evaluate the data for patterns with respect to the missing elements;
• label the data according to the patterns;
• generate labeled synthetic data using the labeled data;
• and
• insert blanks into the labeled synthetic data according to associated labels of the labeled data to generate synthetic data with corresponding missing elements.
