Refining wireframe building models using point clouds

Abstract

Methods for edge refinement of a building wireframe model are presented, the method including: providing a point cloud of a building; providing the building wireframe model generated from the point cloud, where the building wireframe model includes a number of façades, and where each façade includes a number of edges; selecting an edge for refining, the selected edge having two endpoints; finding a number of source points corresponding with the selected edge; adjusting the source points; connecting the two endpoints and the source points to form a polyline; and smoothing the polyline, where the smoothed polyline is a representation of a refined edge. In some embodiments, adjusting the source points includes: selecting a source point; and moving the selected source point manually by a user.
