Abstract
An optical integrated circuit includes a first element having a function of separating each polarization from electromagnetic waves including multiple polarizations, or a function of rotating at least some of the polarizations after separating each polarization from electromagnetic waves including multiple polarizations, and a second element having a function of separating components of multiple wavelengths included in the electromagnetic waves into components of each wavelength. The first element and the second element are connected to each other in a cascade-like manner.

An optical integrated circuit comprising:
- a first element having a function of separating each polarization from electromagnetic waves including multiple polarizations, or a function of rotating at least some of the polarizations after separating each polarization from electromagnetic waves including multiple polarizations;
- and a second element having a function of separating components of multiple wavelengths included in the electromagnetic waves into components of each wavelength, wherein the first element and the second element are connected to each other in a cascade-like manner.
