Abstract
The present invention relates to a multimodal polyethylene composition having excellent mechanical properties and to an extrusion article, such as a rod profile, a tube profile or a hollow article, such as a pipe, comprising the same.
Claims15
A multimodal polyethylene composition comprising:
- (A) 25 to 65% by weight, with respect to the total weight of the multimodal polyethylene composition, of a low molecular weight polyethylene having a viscometer molecular weight, Mv, from 35,000 to 90,000 g/mol;
- (B) 8 to 42% by weight, with respect to the total weight of the multimodal polyethylene composition, of a first high molecular weight polyethylene homopolymer or copolymer having a viscometer molecular weight, Mv, from 750,000 to 3,500,000 g/mol;
- (C) 24 to 57% by weight, with respect to the total weight of the multimodal polyethylene composition, of a second high molecular weight polyethylene homopolymer or copolymer having viscometer molecular weight, Mv, from 400,000 to 3,000,000 g/mol;
- wherein the multimodal polyethylene composition has
- a viscometer molecular weight from 500,000 to 1,000,000 g/mol,
- an intrinsic viscosity from 4.5 to 7.5 dl/g measured according to ISO 1628, and
- a comonomer content of 0.16 to 1.20% mol, with respect to the total amount of monomer in the low molecular weight polyethylene, the first high molecular weight polyethylene homopolymer or copolymer, and the second high molecular weight polyethylene homopolymer or copolymer, and
- wherein the first high molecular weight polyethylene homopolymer or copolymer and the second high molecular weight polyethylene homopolymer or copolymer differ from each other with respect to the viscometer molecular weight thereof.
