Abstract
A medical device, such as a guide wire, is to be inserted into a living body lumen such as a blood vessel. The medical device includes a main body part and a leading portion that is connected to a distal end of the main body part and enters a lesion, and the leading portion includes a protruding portion on a surface of the leading portion.

- a main body part;
- and
- a leading portion that is connected to a distal end of the main body part and enters a lesion, wherein
- the leading portion includes a protruding portion on a surface of the leading portion.

- a leading portion that is connected to a distal end of the main body part and enters a lesion,
- the method comprising forming a protruding portion on a surface of a base portion provided at the leading portion by attaching an attachment substance to the surface of the base portion.
