Generation of unique presentation of media content

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon computer executable instructions, which when executed by a computing device, cause the computing device to be operable for:

• determining a unique request identifier for a request for playback of an instance of media content, wherein the unique request identifier is provided to a client device;
• generating a media playlist using the unique request identifier, wherein:
• the media playlist includes links that are used to create a sequence of a first version of the instance of media content and a second version of the instance of media content in a number of entropy slots of the instance of media content,
• the sequence is determined using the unique request identifier, and
• an entropy slot in the instance of media content is where a segment from a first version of the instance of media content or a second version of the instance of media content can be delivered,
• receiving a request for a segment from the client device;
• determining whether the request is for the first version of the instance of media content or the second version of the instance of media content;
• when the request is for the first version of the instance of media content, sending the first version of the instance of media content for the segment;
• and
• when the request is for the second version of the instance of media content, sending the second version of the instance of media content for the segment.

An apparatus comprising:

• one or more computer processors;
• and
• a computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions for controlling the one or more computer processors to be operable for:
• determining a unique request identifier for a request for playback of an instance of media content, wherein the unique request identifier is provided to a client device;
• generating a media playlist using the unique request identifier, wherein:
• the media playlist includes links that are used to create a sequence of a first version of the instance of media content and a second version of the instance of media content for segments in a number of entropy slots of the instance of media content,
• the sequence is determined using the unique request identifier, and
• an entropy slot in the instance of media content is where a segment from a first version of the instance of media content or a second version of the instance of media content can be delivered,
• receiving a request for a segment from the client device;
• determining whether the request is for the first version of the instance of media content or the second version of the instance of media content;
• when the request is for the first version of the instance of media content, sending the first version of the instance of media content for the segment;
• and
• when the request is for the second version of the instance of media content, sending the second version of the instance of media content for the segment.
