Flexible multiple port srs transmission using multiple symbols

A user equipment (UE) comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, configure the UE to:
• receive, from a network node, a sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration that maps multiple SRS ports across multiple symbols using a time domain orthogonal cover code (TD-OCC) codebook;
• transmit a SRS from each SRS port using the multiple symbols;
• receive feedback from the network node based on the SRS from each SRS port;
• and
• configure to transmit from one or more ports based on the feedback.

A method for a network node, the method comprising:

• sending, to a user equipment (UE), a sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration that maps multiple SRS ports across multiple symbols using a time domain orthogonal cover code (TD-OCC) codebook;
• receiving a SRS from the SRS ports of the UE transmitted on the multiple symbols;
• and
• sending feedback from the network node based on the SRS from each SRS port.
