Abstract
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining characteristics of autonomous devices, detecting an area in which wireless services provided are deficient, and causing an autonomous device to move to the area and extend wireless coverage in the area. Other embodiments are disclosed.

A device, comprising:
- a processing system including a processor;
- and
- a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- detecting an area in which wireless services provided by a wireless communication system are deficient, the area located within a vicinity of a plurality of autonomous devices;
- directing at least one autonomous device of the plurality of autonomous devices to extend wireless coverage of the wireless communication system in the area where the wireless services are deficient by performing beamforming via an adjustable antenna;
- and
- configuring the at least one autonomous device of the plurality of autonomous devices to serve as a wireless node of the wireless communication system.

A method, comprising:
- detecting, by an autonomous device comprising a processing system that includes at least one processor, an area in which wireless services provided by a wireless communication system are deficient;
- notifying, by the autonomous device, the wireless communication system of the area in which the wireless services provided by the wireless communication system are deficient;
- and
- extending, by the autonomous device, a wireless coverage of the wireless communication system in the area where the wireless services are deficient by performing beamforming via an adjustable antenna, wherein the autonomous device serves as a wireless node of the wireless communication system.

A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- detecting an area in which wireless services provided by a wireless communication system are deficient, the area located within a vicinity of a plurality of autonomous devices;
- directing at least one autonomous device of the plurality of autonomous devices to extend wireless coverage of the wireless communication system in the area where the wireless services are deficient;
- and
- configuring the at least one autonomous device of the plurality of autonomous devices to maintain a threshold distance from legacy wireless nodes to avoid RF interference.
