Abstract
A package storage device with a monitoring and security system that utilizes motion and sensors to provide secure package delivery and validation. Also having the ability to automate the delivery process with secure communications and encrypted codes to create a hands-free delivery system. This storage device has the capability of capturing photos and metadata to enhance security and forensics. It can be connected to a cloud-based system that enables ease of interface and security connectivity in a mesh format.
Claims23
A package storage system for authorized deliveries comprising:
- a package storage authentication coordination system configured to generate, in advance of a scheduled delivery event, a temporally restricted access credential for controlling access to the package storage system during a temporal period for the scheduled delivery event, wherein the package storage authentication coordination system is configured to communicate the temporally restricted access credential to a delivery service authentication coordination system;
- a package storage compartment for receiving packages;
- a package storage compartment door for selectively accessing the package storage compartment;
- a digital lock configured to selectively lock the package storage compartment door to prevent unauthorized access to the package storage compartment;
- a package storage compartment controller configured to coordinate access to the package storage compartment by controlling operation of the digital lock in response to validation of the temporally restricted access credential during the temporal period.
A package storage system configured for authenticated delivery comprising:
- package storage compartment having a lockable door secured by a digital lock;
- a communication interface configured to communicate with a delivery-service authentication coordination system over a network;
- and
- a control system configured to:
- generate and securely store a per-delivery credential cryptographically bound to a specific delivery;
- validate an authentication request from the delivery-service authentication coordination system using the per-delivery credential;
- operate the digital lock, in response to successful validation, to unlock the lockable door and permit placement of a package in the package storage compartment;
- and
- record completion of the delivery event with an association to the per-delivery credential;
- and
- automatically disable the per-delivery credential in response to the delivery event.
