Abstract
Glass articles having high surface compressive stress (CS) and high CS-integrated area are provided. Methods of making such articles include chemical ion exchange processes.
Claims19
A glass article comprising:
- opposing first and second surfaces defining a body of the article having a thickness (t);
- a stress profile of the body comprising:
- a spike region extending from the first surface to a knee located at a depth of layer (DOL);
- a peak compressive stress (CSmax) of the spike region being greater than or equal to 1150 MPa;
- a tail region extending from the knee to a center of the glass article having a central tension (CT) and including a depth of compression (DOC);
- a compressive stress integral at a depth of 5 micrometers that is greater than or equal to 4.75 MPa·millimeter;
- and
- the compressive stress integral at a depth of 8 micrometers that is greater than or equal to 6.7 MPa·millimeter.
