Trailer axle

An axle cartridge for receiving a pair of torsion stub axles therein, the axle cartridge comprising:

• a first plate and a second plate coupled in a parallel arrangement;
• a pair of laterally opposed bases, each defined at respective first and second ends of the first and second plates, wherein each of base of the laterally opposed bases defines a cavity for receiving a respective torsion stub axle of the pair of torsion stub axles;
• and
• one or more fasteners, each extending through the first or second plates, wherein the one or more fasteners each engage an end of the respective elongated stub housing to define a non-zero angle of the respective torsion stub axle relative to a plane extending through the pair of laterally opposed bases.

A trailer assembly, comprising:

• a trailer frame including a first side rail and a second side rail extending longitudinally between a front trailer plate and a rear trailer plate, wherein the first and second side rails are parallel and perpendicular to the front and rear trailer plates;
• and
• an axle cartridge assembly, including:
• an axle cartridge including a first plate and a second plate extending between the first and second rails and a pair of laterally opposed bases, each defined at respective first and second ends of the first and second plates, wherein each base of the laterally opposed bases defines a cavity;
• a pair of torsion stub axles, each torsion stub axle including an elongated stub housing extending into the cavity defined in a respective base of the laterally opposed bases;
• a pair of wheel assemblies, each coupled to a respective torsion stub axle of the pair of torsion stub axles;
• and
• one or more fasteners, each extending through the first or second plates, wherein the one or more fasteners each engage an end of the respective elongated stub housing to define a non-zero camber angle of a respective wheel assembly of the pair of wheel assemblies when the trailer is unloaded.
