Relevancy determination systems and methods for traffic signs

A system for navigating a host vehicle, the system comprising:

• at least one processor comprising circuitry and a memory, wherein the memory includes instructions that when executed by the circuitry cause the at least one processor to:
• receive at least one image captured by a front view camera of the host vehicle;
• analyze the at least one image to detect a representation of a speed limit sign in an environment of the host vehicle;
• determine a first speed limit associated with the speed limit sign;
• determine a relevancy of the speed limit sign to the host vehicle, wherein the relevancy of the speed limit sign to the host vehicle is determined based on a trajectory of the host vehicle relative to a location of the speed limit sign, wherein the speed limit sign is determined to not be relevant to the host vehicle after the host vehicle passes the speed limit sign by a predetermined distance;
• after determining the speed limit sign is not relevant to the host vehicle, determine a second speed limit for the host vehicle, wherein the second speed limit is different from the first speed limit;
• and
• cause the host vehicle to implement at least one navigational action based on the second speed limit.

A system for navigating a host vehicle, the system comprising:

• at least one processor comprising circuitry and a memory, wherein the memory includes instructions that when executed by the circuitry cause the at least one processor to:
• receive at least one image captured by a front view camera of the host vehicle;
• analyze the at least one image to detect a representation of a traffic sign in an environment of the host vehicle, wherein the representation of the traffic sign is at least partially occluded by an object;
• determine a relevancy of the traffic sign to the host vehicle, wherein the relevancy of the traffic sign to the host vehicle is determined based on a trajectory of the host vehicle relative to a location of the traffic sign;
• and
• cause the host vehicle to implement at least one navigational action based on the relevancy of the traffic sign to the host vehicle.

A system for navigating a host vehicle, the system comprising:

• at least one processor comprising circuitry and a memory, wherein the memory includes instructions that when executed by the circuitry cause the at least one processor to:
• receive at least one image captured by a front view camera of the host vehicle;
• analyze the at least one image to detect a representation of a traffic sign in an environment of the host vehicle;
• generate a top view image based on analyzing a plurality of images captured by the front view camera of the host vehicle;
• provide the top view image to a trained system configured to determine a relevancy of the traffic sign to the host vehicle based on a trajectory of the host vehicle relative to a location of the traffic sign, wherein the trained system is further configured to output an indicator of the relevancy of the traffic sign to the host vehicle based on analysis of the top view image;
• receive, from the trained system, the indicator of the relevancy of the traffic sign to the host vehicle;
• and
• cause the host vehicle to implement at least one navigational action based on the indicator of the relevancy of the traffic sign to the host vehicle.
