Abstract
The object is to increase the relative abundances of Parabacteroides bacteria and Bifidobacterium bacteria in the intestinal flora. A composition for improvement of intestinal flora is provided, which comprises any selected from the group consisting of kojibiose and oligosaccharides having kojibiose as a constituent sugar.

A method for improvement of intestinal flora, the method comprising
- administering a composition comprising any selected from the group consisting of kojibiose and oligosaccharides having kojibiose as a constituent sugar to a subject for whom it is desirable or necessary to improve intestinal flora.
A method for treating any selected from the group consisting of inflammation, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, obesity, abnormal glucose metabolism, multiple sclerosis, hepatic steatosis, and cancer, the method comprising
- administering a composition comprising any selected from the group consisting of kojibiose and oligosaccharides having kojibiose as a constituent sugar to a subject for whom it is desirable or necessary to treat any selected from the group consisting of inflammation, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, obesity, abnormal glucose metabolism, multiple sclerosis, hepatic steatosis, and cancer.
A method for treating a disease or condition that is ameliorated by promoting growth of Parabacteroides bacteria in the intestines, the method comprising
- administering a composition comprising any selected from the group consisting of kojibiose and oligosaccharides having kojibiose as a constituent sugar to a subject for whom it is desirable or necessary to treat a disease or condition that is ameliorated by promoting growth of Parabacteroides bacteria in the intestines.
A method for promoting mineral absorption or intestinal regulation, the method comprising
- administering a composition comprising galactosylkojibiose to a to a subject for whom it is desirable or necessary to treat a disease or condition that is ameliorated by promoting growth of Parabacteroides bacteria in the intestines.
