A control method of an imaging apparatus, comprising:

• performing exposure control, so that representative brightness of a high brightness region of an image approaches a target brightness that is set by a user;
• and
• performing gradation correction to increase a contrast of the high brightness region, by expanding a brightness range of the high brightness region of the image which is captured after performing the exposure control, wherein
• degree of the expansion of the brightness range of the high brightness region is changed based on the target brightness and a width of the brightness range of the high brightness region before the expansion.

A non-transitory computer readable medium that stores a program, wherein the program causes a computer to execute a control method of an imaging apparatus, the control method comprising:

• performing exposure control, so that representative brightness of a high brightness region of an image approaches a target brightness that is set by a user;
• and
• performing gradation correction to increase a contrast of the high brightness region, by expanding a brightness range of the high brightness region of the image which is captured after performing the exposure control, wherein
• degree of the expansion of the brightness range of the high brightness region is changed based on the target brightness and a width of the brightness range of the high brightness region before the expansion.
