Diagnostics self-tests for power tools

A power tool device, the power tool device comprising:

• a device housing;
• a power tool battery pack interface coupled to the device housing;
• an electronic controller including a memory storing firmware and a processor configured to execute the firmware to cause the electronic controller to:
• receive a request from an external device to perform a self-test;
• in response to the request, perform the self-test;
• record results corresponding to the self-test;
• and
• export the results to the external device.

A power tool device, the power tool device comprising:

• a device housing;
• a power tool battery pack interface coupled to the device housing;
• an electronic controller including a memory storing firmware and a processor configured to execute the firmware to cause the electronic controller to:
• operate electronics of the power tool device;
• a diagnostic integrated circuit housed by the device housing and comprising:
• a processing circuit separate from the processor of the electronic controller, a diagnostic sensor, and an external communication interface, wherein the diagnostic integrated circuit is configured to:
• receive power from an external device;
• perform, by the processing circuit, a diagnostic test of the electronic controller;
• and
• transmit, by the processing circuit via the external communication interface, a test result of the diagnostic test of the electronic controller to the external device.
