Abstract
The present disclosure provides curable compositions comprising polymerization inhibitor-functionalized particles to prevent undesired polymerization of the polymerizable compounds in the curable compositions during their transportation, handling or storage, or during 3D printing processes. Such curable compositions can be used to produce polymeric materials with properties suitable for use in various 3D printed objects, such as orthodontic appliances.
Claims27

A method for preparing a surface functionalized particle comprising a plurality of polymerization inhibitor moieties thereon, comprising:
- conducting a surface treatment to form a plurality of surface functional groups on a surface of the particle;
- covalently bonding a surface functionalization compound having a first reactive group on one end of the compound and a second reactive group on an opposite end of the compound to the surface of the particle by reacting the first reactive group with one surface functional group of the plurality of surface functional groups;
- and
- covalently bonding a reactive polymerization compound having a third reactive group to the surface functionalization compound by reacting the third reactive group and the second reactive group.
