Claims20
A system comprising:
- an optics module comprising:
- a splitter;
- and
- an illumination light source configured to emit illumination light towards a first surface of the splitter;
- a display configured to receive the illumination light from the illumination light source via the splitter, and further configured to direct image light toward a user;
- an infrared light source configured to emit infrared light towards a second surface of the splitter, the second surface different from the first surface, wherein the splitter is configured to direct the infrared light toward the user;
- and
- a sensor configured to receive infrared light reflected from the user.

A method comprising:
- receiving, at a display, illumination light from an illumination light source of an optics module via a splitter, the illumination light emitted towards a first surface of the splitter;
- in response to the display receiving the illumination light, directing image light toward a user;
- emitting, via an infrared light source, infrared light towards a second surface of the splitter, the second surface different from the first surface, wherein the splitter is configured to direct the infrared light toward the user;
- and
- receiving, at a sensor, infrared light reflected from the user,
- wherein the optics module comprises the splitter.
