Valve device

A valve device for controlling a coolant used in an automobile, the valve device comprising:

• a valve member that includes
• a shaft portion rotatable about a rotation axis, and
• a rotor connected to the shaft portion, the rotor having on its outer circumferential surface a first flow path with a first opening;
• a housing that includes
• an accommodating portion for accommodating the valve member, and
• a second flow path having a second opening communicable with the first opening, the accommodating portion having on its inner circumferential surface the second opening;
• a biasing member for biasing the rotor in a first direction;
• and
• a first seal disposed between an outer surface of the rotor and an inner surface of the accommodating portion,
• wherein the rotor is pressed against the first seal by the biasing member with a surface of the rotor that faces in the first direction not in contact with the inner surface of the accommodating portion.
