Abstract
Disclosed herein are compositions comprising asphalt emulsion compositions with styrene-butadiene latexes. The present disclosure also relates to methods of making the disclosed compositions. The compositions disclosed herein can be used in a variety of applications including, but not limited to, asphalt compositions, paints, coatings, carpet compositions, paper binding and coating compositions, tack coats, foams, or adhesives.

An asphalt emulsion composition comprising:
- (i) asphalt,
- (ii) a non-carboxylated latex,
- (iii) less than 10 wt. % of a flipping surfactant based on the total weight of the composition, and
- (iv) optionally water.
A styrene-butadiene latex made by emulsion polymerization, wherein the latex is cold-polymerized.
A styrene-butadiene latex made by emulsion polymerization, wherein the latex is hot-polymerized.
