Adaptive athletic activity prescription systems

A method comprising:

• transmitting, using a user interface, a request for a user to complete a benchmark running test;
• receiving, from a sensor configured to capture data indicative of motion of the user, motion data as the user performs the benchmark running test for an identified distance or an identified duration;
• calculating, with a processor, an adaptive running activity prescription for the user based upon a critical velocity of the user and a finite work capacity of the user, wherein the adaptive running activity prescription for the user includes a daily training impulse (totalDayTRIMP) calculated using sensor data received from the sensor, an activity duration (activityDuration), an average heart rate (avgHeartRate), a resting heart rate (restHeartRate), and a maximum heart rate (maxHeartRate);
• receiving subsequent motion data from the sensor while the user performs a current run;
• adapting and outputting, to the user interface, the calculated adaptive running activity prescription, wherein adapting the calculated adaptive running activity prescription to the user providing and displaying adaptive running activity information specific to the current run;
• identifying a plurality of activity options calculated to fulfill a daily training impulse goal based on the calculated adaptive running activity prescription;
• and
• outputting, to the user interface, the plurality of activity options ranked in order of a determined likelihood that the user will complete a respective activity.

A method comprising:

• receiving, from a sensor configured to capture data indicative of motion of a user, motion data as the user performs a benchmark running test for an identified distance or an identified duration;
• calculating, with a processor, an adaptive running activity prescription for the user based upon a critical velocity of the user and a finite work capacity of the user, wherein the adaptive running activity prescription for the user includes a daily training impulse (totalDayTRIMP) calculated using sensor data received from the sensor, an activity duration (activityDuration), an average heart rate (avgHeartRate), a resting heart rate (restHeartRate), and a maximum heart rate (maxHeartRate);
• receiving subsequent motion data from the sensor subsequent to the benchmark running test;
• adapting the calculated adaptive running activity prescription based on the subsequent motion data;
• and
• outputting, to a user interface, the calculated adaptive running activity prescription, information specific to the subsequent motion data and a plurality of activity options calculated to fulfill a daily training impulse goal based on the calculated adaptive running activity prescription.
