Vehicular driving assist system with tire wear determination

A vehicular driving assist system, the vehicular driving assist system comprising:

• a sensor disposed at a wheel well of a vehicle equipped with the vehicular driving assist system, wherein the sensor has a field of sensing that includes tread of a tire that is disposed at the wheel well of the vehicle, and wherein the sensor is operable to capture sensor data;
• an electronic control unit (ECU) comprising electronic circuitry and associated software;
• wherein the electronic circuitry of the ECU comprises a data processor for processing sensor data captured by the sensor;
• wherein the vehicular driving assist system, via processing at the data processor of sensor data captured by the sensor, determines wear level of the tread of the tire disposed at the wheel well of the vehicle;
• and
• wherein the vehicular driving assist system adjusts control of an adaptive cruise control system of the vehicle to establish a gap between the vehicle and a leading vehicle based at least in part on processing at the ECU of sensor data captured by the sensor disposed at the wheel well of the vehicle.

A vehicular driving assist system, the vehicular driving assist system comprising:

• a sensor disposed at a wheel well of a vehicle equipped with the vehicular driving assist system, wherein the sensor has a field of sensing that includes tread of a tire that is disposed at the wheel well of the vehicle, and wherein the sensor is operable to capture sensor data;
• an electronic control unit (ECU) comprising electronic circuitry and associated software;
• wherein the electronic circuitry of the ECU comprises a data processor for processing sensor data captured by the sensor;
• wherein the vehicular driving assist system, via processing at the data processor of sensor data captured by the sensor, determines wear level of the tread of the tire disposed at the wheel well of the vehicle;
• and
• wherein the vehicular driving assist system is operable to determine presence of a foreign object embedded in the tire disposed at the wheel well of the vehicle.
