Abstract
Provided is a parking assistance apparatus and method. The parking assistance apparatus includes a display unit, a camera configured to capture surroundings of a vehicle, a traveling signal input unit configured to input a traveling signal of the vehicle, and a processor configured to generate a surround view monitor (SVM) image based on the image captured by the camera, to fix the SVM image to one viewpoint centered on a preset parking space, and to move a vehicle model within the SVM image with the viewpoint fixed.

The parking assistance apparatus comprising:
- a display unit;
- a camera configured to capture an image from surroundings of a vehicle;
- a traveling signal input unit configured to input a traveling signal of the vehicle;
- and
- a processor configured to generate a surround view monitor (SVM) image based on the image captured by the camera, to fix the SVM image to one viewpoint centered on a preset parking space, and to move a vehicle model within the SVM image with the viewpoint fixed.

- generating, by a processor, a surround view monitor (SVM) image based on an image captured by a camera;
- fixing, by the processor, the SVM image to one viewpoint centered on a preset parking space;
