Method and apparatus for generating modulated neurostimulation pulse sequence

A method for delivering neurostimulation through electrodes to a patient and controlling delivery of the neurostimulation by a user, the method comprising:

• generating stimulation parameters controlling delivery of the neurostimulation according to a pulse sequence including a series of neurostimulation pulses, the pulse sequence defined by sequence parameters including one or more adjustable parameters;
• and
• determining the pulse sequence using a user interface, including:
• setting the pulse sequence to a tonic pulse sequence;
• controlling the delivery of the neurostimulation according to the tonic pulse sequence;
• adjusting the one or more adjustable parameter to determine one or more initial values of the respective one or more adjustable parameters at which a desirable response of the patient is obtained by the delivery of the neurostimulation according to the tonic pulse sequence;
• determining a modulated pulse sequence using the tonic pulse sequence, the one or more initial values of the respective one or more adjustable parameters, and one or more modulation functions applied to respective one or more modulated parameters selected from the one or more adjustable parameters;
• and
• setting the pulse sequence to the modulated pulse sequence.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium including instructions, which when executed by a system, cause the system to perform a method for delivering neurostimulation to a patient, the method comprising:

• generating a plurality of stimulation parameters controlling delivery of the neurostimulation according to a pulse sequence including a series of neurostimulation pulses, the pulse sequence defined by sequence parameters including one or more adjustable parameters;
• and
• determining the pulse sequence, including:
• setting the pulse sequence to a tonic pulse sequence;
• controlling the delivery of the neurostimulation according to the tonic pulse sequence;
• adjusting the one or more adjustable parameter to determine one or more initial values of the respective one or more adjustable parameters at which a desirable response of the patient is obtained by the delivery of the neurostimulation according to the tonic pulse sequence;
• determining a modulated pulse sequence using the tonic pulse sequence, the one or more initial values of the respective one or more adjustable parameters, and one or more modulation functions applied to respective one or more modulated parameters selected from the one or more adjustable parameters;
• and
• setting the pulse sequence to the modulated pulse sequence.
