The present invention relates to streptococcal vaccine formulations and their use in generating immunity against streptococcal infection.

A method for preventing or treating an infection by streptococcal bacteria or preventing or treating a disease caused by an infection by streptococcal bacteria in a subject, the method comprising intramuscularly administering to the subject an effective amount of a vaccine composition to prevent or treat the infection or disease;
- wherein
- the vaccine composition comprises at least one of attenuated or killed streptococcal bacteria and immunogenic components thereof including antigenic proteins;
- and
- the vaccine composition does not include an alum adjuvant selected from at least one of:
- potassium aluminum sulfate, amorphous aluminum hydroxyphosphate sulfate, aluminum hydroxide, and aluminum phosphate.
