Abstract
System, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for performing film grain synthesis using correlated and/or mixed patterns. A device may split an image into a plurality of blocks. The device may generate a set of correlated film grain patterns for a block of the plurality of blocks. The device may select, from the set of correlated film grain patterns, a correlated film grain pattern to apply to a pixel of the block.

- a processor configured to:
- split an image into a plurality of blocks;
- generate a set of correlated film grain patterns for a block of the plurality of blocks;
- and
- select, from the set of correlated film grain patterns, a correlated film grain pattern to apply to a pixel of the block.
