The present invention comprises a valve assembly with load, pressure, temperature, and other sensors for monitoring the operation of the valve assembly. The sensors may interface with the hydraulic cylinder and the cavity surrounding flow bore of the valve assembly to acquire data related to changes in load and pressure. These changes may be analyzed to determine if the valve assemblies are operating properly or improperly and need to be disassembled and replaced. Upon initial operation of the valve assembly, baseline readings related to load and pressure should be acquired to compare with future load and pressure readings during operation.
