Private pre-fetching of search results

A method comprising:

• detecting a prefetch trigger associated with a content portion of content provided by a client device;
• encrypting the content portion, in response to the prefetch trigger, to obtain an encrypted content portion;
• transmitting the encrypted content portion to a search server;
• receiving encrypted search results from the search server;
• receiving a search request based on the content portion;
• decrypting the encrypted search results to obtain decrypted search results;
• and
• providing the decrypted search results at the client device.

A system comprising:

• at least one memory including instructions;
• and
• at least one processor that is operably coupled to the at least one memory and that is arranged and configured to execute the instructions that, when executed, cause the at least one processor to
• detect a prefetch trigger associated with a content portion of content provided by a client device;
• encrypt the content portion, in response to the prefetch trigger, to obtain an encrypted content portion;
• transmit the encrypted content portion to a search server;
• receive encrypted search results from the search server;
• receive a search request based on the content portion;
• decrypt the encrypted search results to obtain decrypted search results;
• and
• provide the decrypted search results at the client device.
