Methods to improve connectionless reception window widening

A device comprising:

• a transceiver;
• and
• a controller coupled to the transceiver, the controller configured to:
• open a first reception window having a first duration;
• and
• in response to determining that the first reception window closes without the transceiver receiving a synchronization transmission:
• determine a second duration greater than the first duration;
• and
• open a second reception window having the second duration.

A device comprising:

• a transceiver;
• and
• a controller coupled to the transceiver, the controller configured to:
• open a first reception window at a first time;
• receive, via the transceiver, a synchronization message during the first reception window at a second time;
• determine a duration responsive to the first time and the second time;
• and
• open a second window a duration after closing the first reception window.
