Method and system for delivering an active ingredient by inhalation

Abstract

A method for delivering an active ingredient by inhalation is provided. The method includes atomizing a mixture of the active ingredient, an aqueous solution, and a lipid carrier into an aerosol; and administering an effective amount of the active ingredient to a subject in need thereof by inhalation of the aerosol into a respiratory system of the subject. Also provided is delivering system for delivering an active ingredient to a respiratory system of a subject in need thereof by inhalation, including the mixture of the active ingredient, an aqueous solution, and a lipid carrier; and a pharmaceutically acceptable atomizer, nebulizer, or inhaler for atomizing the mixture into an aerosol.
