Abstract
An integrated three function valve (ITFV) for an actuator of a flight control surface. The ITFV includes: an inner spool configured to be actuated in a first direction and a second direction responsive to a pressure differential acting across the inner spool; and an intermediate spool configured to be actuated in the first direction and second direction between an active position and a bypass position. The inner spool is located within the intermediate spool.
Claims15
An integrated three function valve (ITFV) for an actuator of a flight control surface, the ITFV comprising:
- an inner spool configured to be actuated in a first direction and a second direction responsive to a pressure differential acting across the inner spool;
- and
- an intermediate spool configured to be actuated in the first direction and second direction between an active position and a bypass position;
- wherein the inner spool is located within the intermediate spool.
A method of operating an ITFV comprising:
- actuating an intermediate spool to an active position by supplying hydraulic fluid at pressure greater than a predetermined activation pressure to an activation chamber of the ITFV;
- actuating the intermediate spool to a bypass position if pressure in the activation chamber falls below the predetermined activation pressure;
- and
- actuating an inner spool in a first direction or a second direction responsive to a pressure differential acting across the inner spool;
- wherein the inner spool is located within the intermediate spool.
