Abstract
A user equipment (UE) 102 receives, from a radio access network (RAN) 105 and in a first cell 124, a resource for an uplink transmission to the RAN 105 when a radio connection between the UE 102 and the RAN 105 is suspended (e.g., event 1102); initiates, in a second cell 126 and the radio connection is suspended, a procedure to resume the radio connection with the RAN 105 (e.g., event 1106); and in response to the initiating, release the resource (e.g., event 1108).
Claims22
A method for resource management, the method implemented in a user equipment (UE) and comprising:
- receiving, from a radio access network (RAN) and in a first cell, a resource for an uplink transmission to the RAN when a radio connection between the UE and the RAN is suspended;
- activating a small data transmission (SDT) alignment timer in response to the receiving;
- initiating, in a second cell and while the radio connection is suspended, a procedure to resume the radio connection with the RAN;
- and
- in response to the initiating:
- releasing the resource, and
- stopping the SDT alignment timer.

An apparatus, functioning as a user equipment (UE), comprising:
- a transceiver;
- and
- one or more processors configured to:
- receive, from a radio access network (RAN) and in a first cell, a resource for an uplink transmission to the RAN when a radio connection between the UE and the RAN is suspended;
- activate a small data transmission (SDT) alignment timer in response to the receiving;
- initiate, in a second cell and while the radio connection is suspended, a procedure to resume the radio connection with the RAN;
- and
- in response to initiating the procedure:
- release the resource, and
- stop the SDT alignment timer.
