Integrated Sensing and Communication

A method, comprising:

• broadcasting a reference signal using a plurality of different resources as part of a beam sweeping algorithm;
• receiving, from one or more communication nodes of a mobile communication system, information regarding preferred resources for communication with the respective communication nodes based on a first objective;
• receiving, from of one or more objects of the mobile communication system, information regarding preferred resources for sensing of the respective objects based on said second objective different to the first objective;
• and
• forming one or more communication nodes of a mobile communication system and one or more objects of the mobile communication system into one or more groups, wherein the groups comprise one or more of said nodes and one or more of said objects.

An apparatus, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to perform at least:
• forming one or more communication nodes of a mobile communication system and one or more objects of the mobile communication system into one or more groups, the groups comprising one or more of said nodes and one or more of said objects, wherein said groupings are based, at least in part, on defined preferred or optimal resources for communication with the respective communication nodes based on a first objective and defined preferred or optimal resources for sensing of the one or more objects based on a second objective different to the first objective;
• and
• defining a resource for the group, wherein the defined resources are used for communications with the one or more nodes of the respective group and for sensing said one or more objects of the respective group.

A non-transitory program storage device readable with an apparatus, tangibly embodying a program of instructions executable with the apparatus for causing the apparatus to:

• broadcast a reference signal using a plurality of different resources as part of a beam sweeping algorithm;
• receive, from one or more communication nodes of a mobile communication system, information regarding preferred resources for communication with the respective communication nodes based on a first objective;
• receive, from one or more objects of the mobile communication system, information regarding preferred resources for sensing of the respective objects based on said second objective different to the first objective;
• and
• form one or more communication nodes of a mobile communication system and one or more objects of the mobile communication system into one or more groups, wherein the groups comprise one or more of said nodes and one or more of said objects.
