Autonomous user equipment (ue) beam failure recovery (bfr) abort

A baseband processor configured to, when executing instructions stored in a memory, perform operations comprising:

• causing transmission of, via a radio frequency (RF) interface, in response to detecting a beam failure of a downlink (DL) beam, a first random access channel (RACH) message;
• determining that the DL beam is valid after transmitting the first RACH message;
• and
• receiving, via the RF interface, and after determining that the DL beam is valid, a communication sent on the DL beam without transmitting a second RACH message.

A user equipment (UE), comprising:

• a memory circuitry;
• a radio frequency (RF) circuitry;
• and
• a processor, coupled to the memory circuitry and the RF circuitry, and when executing instructions in the memory circuitry, is configured to cause the UE to:
• transmit, by the RF circuitry, in response to detecting a beam failure of a downlink (DL) beam, a first random access channel (RACH) message;
• determine that the DL beam is valid after transmitting the first RACH message;
• and
• receiving, via the RF circuitry, and after determining that the DL beam is valid a communication sent on the DL beam without transmitting a second RACH message.
