Distributed personal assistant

A method, comprising:

• at an electronic device with one or more processors and memory:
• receiving a user request;
• determining at least one task to perform in response to the user request;
• estimating a relative efficiency of task performance for completion of the at least one task with the electronic device and a second electronic device, based on at least one heuristic;
• based on the relative efficiency of task performance, determining whether to execute the at least one task at the electronic device;
• in accordance with a determination to execute the at least one task at the electronic device, causing the execution of the at least one task at the electronic device;
• in accordance with a determination to execute the at least one task at the second electronic device:
• generating executable code for carrying out the at least one task;
• and
• transmitting the executable code from the electronic device to the second electronic device.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing one or more programs, the one or more programs comprising instructions, which when executed by an electronic device, cause the electronic device to:

• receive a user request;
• determine at least one task to perform in response to the user request;
• estimate a relative efficiency of task performance for completion of the at least one task with the electronic device and a second electronic device, based on at least one heuristic;
• based on the relative efficiency of task performance, determine whether to execute the at least one task at the electronic device;
• in accordance with a determination to execute the at least one task at the electronic device, cause the execution of the at least one task at the electronic device;
• in accordance with a determination to execute the at least one task at the second electronic device:
• generate executable code for carrying out the at least one task;
• and
• transmit the executable code from the electronic device to the second electronic device.
