Vmware - datastore management of block storage

A computing device comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory including instructions that, when executed with the processor, cause the computing device to, at least:
• receive, by a control plane of a service offered in a cloud environment provided by a first service provider, a request to create a data center;
• responsive to receiving the request, provision, by the control plane, the data center in a tenancy of a customer in the cloud environment by:
• deploy a plurality of host machines in the tenancy of the customer in the cloud environment, wherein each host machine included in the plurality of host machines includes a hypervisor that is provided by a second service provider, installed thereon;
• and
• instantiate a plurality of datastores, each datastore included in the plurality of datastores comprising a plurality of block volume storage units;
• and
• maintain, by the control plane of the service, a mapping corresponding to an association of each datastore included in the plurality of datastores with at least one host machine included in the plurality of host machines.

One or more computer readable non-transitory media storing specific computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause a computer system to at least:

• receiving, by a control plane of a service offered in a cloud environment provided by a first service provider, a request to create a data center;
• responsive to receiving the request, provisioning, by the control plane, the data center in a tenancy of a customer in the cloud environment by:
• deploying a plurality of host machines in the tenancy of the customer in the cloud environment, wherein each host machine included in the plurality of host machines includes a hypervisor that is provided by a second service provider, installed thereon;
• and
• instantiating a plurality of datastores, each datastore included in the plurality of datastores comprising a plurality of block volume storage units;
• and
• maintaining, by the control plane of the service, a mapping corresponding to an association of each datastore included in the plurality of datastores with at least one host machine included in the plurality of host machines.
