Structured data filtering in memory devices

A memory device, comprising:

• a plurality of memory blocks;
• and
• a memory controller operable to execute instructions which when executed cause the memory controller to perform operations comprising:
• receiving, from a host device coupled to the memory device, a read request for data in a data structure, wherein:
• the data structure includes a plurality of data records;
• and
• the read request includes a bitmap identifying a subset of data records in the plurality of data records,
• reading data from the plurality of memory blocks based on the read request,
• generating, by the memory device, a first subset of the read data by filtering the read data based on the bitmap, the memory device distinct from a database management system (DBMS) of the host device;
• and
• returning the first subset of the read data to the host device in response to the read request without a remainder of the read data.

An electronic system, comprising:

• a host device;
• and
• a memory device coupled to the host device and configured to perform operations comprising:
• receiving, from the host device, a read request for data in a data structure, wherein:
• the data structure includes a plurality of data records;
• and
• the read request includes a bitmap identifying a subset of data records in the plurality of data records,
• reading data from the memory device based on the read request,
• generating, by the memory device, a first subset of the read data by filtering the read data based on the bitmap, the memory device distinct from a database management system (DBMS) of the host device;
• and
• returning the first subset of the read data to the host device in response to the read request without a remainder of the read data.
