Systems and methods for instructing a user equipment to utilize a fifth generation (5g) network instead of a wireless network

A network device of a fifth generation (5G) radio access network, the network device comprising one or more processors configured to:

• establish a connection or a session with a device associated with a Wi-Fi network;
• provide an indicator to the device, wherein the indicator includes (i) a value indicating that Wi-Fi offload is not preferred for one or more Wi-Fi networks including the Wi-Fi network and (ii) a list of the one or more Wi-Fi networks;
• and
• maintain the connection or the session with the device when the indicator indicates that the Wi-Fi network is not preferred for Wi-Fi offload.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a set of instructions, the set of instructions comprising:

• one or more instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a network device of a fifth generation (5G) radio access network, cause the network device to:
• establish, with a device associated with a Wi-Fi network, a connection or a session;
• provide an indicator to the device, wherein the indicator includes (i) a value indicating that Wi-Fi offload is not preferred for one or more Wi-Fi networks including the Wi-Fi network and (ii) a list of the one or more Wi-Fi networks;
• and
• maintain the connection or the session with the device when the indicator indicates that the Wi-Fi network is not preferred for Wi-Fi offload.
