Abstract
Various solutions for satellite access network (SAN) or non-terrestrial network (NTN) measurement outside gaps with respect to user equipment and network apparatus in mobile communications are described. An apparatus may determine whether a measurement gap is needed for performing an NTN inter-frequency measurement. The apparatus may determine whether a data interruption is needed for performing the NTN inter-frequency measurement in an event that the measurement gap is not needed. The apparatus may report a user equipment capability to a network node according to a determination result.

A method, comprising:
- determining, by a processor of an apparatus, whether a measurement gap is needed for performing a non-terrestrial network (NTN) inter-frequency measurement;
- determining, by the processor, whether a data interruption is needed for performing the NTN inter-frequency measurement in an event that the measurement gap is not needed;
- and
- reporting, by the processor, a user equipment (UE) capability to a network node according to a determination result.

An apparatus, comprising:
- a transceiver which, during operation, wirelessly communicates with at least one network node of a wireless network;
- and
- a processor communicatively coupled to the transceiver such that, during operation, the processor performs operations comprising:
- determining whether a measurement gap is needed for performing a non-terrestrial network (NTN) inter-frequency measurement;
- determining whether a data interruption is needed for performing the NTN inter-frequency measurement in an event that the measurement gap is not needed;
- and
- reporting, via the transceiver, a user equipment (UE) capability to the network node according to a determination result.
