Abstract
Techniques, described herein, enable enhanced de-identification solutions for digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) systems and records. DICOM header tags may be de-identified (e.g., anonymized) using one or more hashing algorithms and salt values. Solutions for evaluating and resolving collisions between de-identified. DICOM records may be de-identified in large batches or in smaller batches on a per-request basis. Additional features of the techniques are described herein.
Claims20
A server device, comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- one or more processors configured, when executing instructions stored in the memory, to:
- create, an anonymized digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) object from requested DICOM information, by using a hashing algorithm to anonymize identifying information of the requested DICOM information;
- and
- output the anonymized DICOM object.
A method, performed by a server device, comprising:
- analyzing a batch of anonymized digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) objects for collisions between other anonymized DICOM objects in the batch of anonymized DICOM objects;
- resolving collisions between a colliding anonymized DICOM object and another colliding anonymized DICOM object by modifying hashing function inputs upon which the collisions are based.
A method, performed by a computing device, comprising:
- receiving a study batch request and retrieving DICOM objects for a study batch;
- and
- anonymizing header tag values of the retrieved DICOM objects for the study batch using hashing algorithms and salt values;
- and
- outputting anonymized DICOM objects for the study batch.
