Abstract
A display device includes a display panel including a liquid crystal panel and a backlight disposed behind the liquid crystal panel, and a controller configured to control luminance of the backlight. The controller is configured to increase or decrease the luminance of the backlight at a time of switching a refresh rate when an image is displayed on the display panel in accordance with an image signal in such a manner that a change in luminance of the display panel before and after the switching with respect to an image signal having the same gray scale falls within a predetermined range.

A display device comprising:
- a display panel including a liquid crystal panel and a backlight disposed behind the liquid crystal panel;
- and
- a controller configured to control luminance of the backlight,
- wherein the controller is configured to increase or decrease the luminance of the backlight at a time of switching a refresh rate when an image is displayed on the display panel in accordance with an image signal in such a manner that a change in luminance of the display panel before and after the switching with respect to an image signal having the same gray scale falls within a predetermined range.
