A lens barrel 100 can quickly avoid collisions between moving lens frames having overlapping regions within their movement ranges at the time of a reset drive using a simple configuration, and has moving lens frames 101, and 102 that have overlapping regions OL in their movement ranges M1, and M2; drive units 103, and 104 that move the moving lens frames 101, and 102 in an optical axis direction O; a detection unit 130 configured to detect reference positions P1, and P3 of the moving lens frames 101, and 102; and a control unit J configured to perform a reset drive that moves the moving lens frames 101, and 102 to reference positions P1, and P3, wherein the control unit C changes reset drive conditions for the moving lens frames 101, and 102 based on outputs from the detection unit 130.
