Systems and methods for flood prevention

A method for protecting a home or building with a slab-on-grade foundation from flood waters, which comprises:

• determining a size and number of waterproof, plastic panel(s) needed to protect an exterior area of the home or building from flooding between the foundation and a predetermined design flood elevation (DFE);
• positioning each plastic panel, one at a time, against a respective section of the exterior area to be protected;
• securing an upper edge of each plastic panel, one at a time, to an exterior surface of the home or building to form a top end horizontal water-resistant barrier;
• securing a lower edge of each plastic panel, one at a time, to the foundation with a removable adhesive to form a bottom end horizontal waterproof seal;
• and
• securing each vertical side edge of each plastic panel, one at a time, to at least one of an exterior surface of the home or building, and a vertical side edge of an adjacent plastic panel with the removable adhesive to form a waterproof seal between each plastic panel and at least one of an exterior wall, a door, and a window.
