Flexible parameterization of arbitrary display surfaces for in-camera visual effects

One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform the steps of:

• matching a layout of plurality of display surfaces within a three-dimensional (3D) space to a plurality of mappings between the plurality of display surfaces and a plurality of two-dimensional (2D) regions;
• determining (i) a first location of a first graphical element within a first region included in the plurality of 2D regions and (ii) a first mapping that is associated with the first region and included in the plurality of mappings;
• converting the first location into a first set of spatial attributes associated with the plurality of display surfaces based on the first mapping;
• and
• causing the first graphical element to be displayed in a first display surface included in the plurality of display surfaces based on the first set of spatial attributes.

A system, comprising:

• one or more memories that store instructions, and
• one or more processors that are coupled to the one or more memories and, when executing the instructions, are configured to perform the steps of:
• matching a layout of plurality of display surfaces within a three-dimensional (3D) space to a plurality of mappings between the plurality of display surfaces and a plurality of two-dimensional (2D) regions;
• determining (i) a first location of a first graphical element within a first region included in the plurality of 2D regions and (ii) a first mapping that is associated with the first region and included in the plurality of mappings;
• converting the first location into a first set of spatial attributes associated with the plurality of display surfaces based on the first mapping;
• and
• causing the first graphical element to be displayed in a first display surface included in the plurality of display surfaces based on the first set of spatial attributes.
