Abstract
A processing system operates by: detecting an access anomaly associated with an access request from a requestor for a set of encoded data slices, the access anomaly having an unfavorable access pattern, wherein the set of encoded data slices is dispersed storage error encoded and stored in at least one storage unit of the storage network; denying the access request in response to detecting the access anomaly; generating, based on the unfavorable access pattern, an anomaly detection indicator identifying the requestor; and sending the anomaly detection indicator to other devices of the storage network.
Claims20
A method for execution by a computing device that includes a processor, the method comprising:
- receiving an access request from a requestor for a set of encoded data slices, wherein the set of encoded data slices is dispersed storage error encoded and stored in at least one storage unit of a storage network;
- detecting, based on the access request, an unfavorable access pattern associated with the requestor;
- denying the access request in response to detecting the unfavorable access pattern;
- generating, in response to detecting the unfavorable access pattern, an anomaly detection indicator identifying the requestor;
- and
- sending the anomaly detection indicator to other devices of the storage network.
A processing system of a storage network comprises:
- at least one processor;
- a memory that stores operational instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the processing system to perform operations that include:
- receiving an access request from a requestor for a set of encoded data slices, wherein the set of encoded data slices is dispersed storage error encoded and stored in at least one storage unit of a storage network;
- detecting, based on the access request, an unfavorable access pattern associated with the requestor;
- denying the access request in response to detecting the unfavorable access pattern;
- generating, in response to detecting the unfavorable access pattern, an anomaly detection indicator identifying the requestor;
- and
- sending the anomaly detection indicator to other devices of the storage network.
