Method and apparatus for displaying screen based on gesture input

An electronic device comprising:

• a display module;
• a memory, including one or more storage media, storing instructions;
• and
• at least one processor including processing circuitry,
• wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor individually or collectively, cause the electronic device to:
• split a target area corresponding to a pair of gesture inputs from a screen area of the display module based on detecting the pair of gesture inputs respectively starting from two edges of the display module and reaching adjacent edges of the display module;
• display an application screen adjusted based on the split target area in the split target area;
• and
• display another screen in an area that is different from the split target area.
