An operation terminal according to an aspect of the present invention is an operation terminal for a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus and includes a processor. The processor is configured to: acquire first information indicating a state of a magnet provided in the magnetic resonance imaging apparatus; determine the state of the magnet in the magnetic resonance imaging apparatus on the basis of the first information; output second information for prompting a user of the magnetic resonance imaging apparatus to perform a safety check operation in a case where the determined state of the magnet is a cooling-completed state; and instruct the magnetic resonance imaging apparatus to start excitation of the magnet in a case where the safety check operation by the user has been received.
